Does This Sound Familiar?

You're not alone. These are the most common struggles dog owners face in Glasgow.

Puppy Play Biting That Hurts

Your puppy treats your hands, ankles, and children as chew toys. Every play session ends in scratches or tears. You've tried yelping, ignoring, redirecting—nothing stops it.

Jumping Up on Everyone

Your puppy launches at guests, knocks over kids, and ruins every greeting. You're embarrassed. Visitors dread coming over. You can't control the excitement.

Pulling & Refusing to Walk

Every walk is a battle. Your puppy either drags you down the street or plants their feet and refuses to move. You dread going outside instead of enjoying it.

Toileting in the House

You're cleaning up accidents daily. You've tried puppy pads, schedules, rewards—but the mess keeps happening. You're exhausted and your home smells.

Puppy Training
That Sticks

Our Mission

To help new puppy owners build a solid foundation from day one. We focus on understanding the basic stages of puppy obedience—tackling play biting, jumping up, lead pulling, refusing to walk, and toileting in the home before these behaviours become ingrained adult habits. Let's set your puppy up for a lifetime of good behaviour.

I'm Susan Jarvie. I got my first dog—a Whippet—when I was just 5 years old. I've been a pet parent to 8 different dogs over 25+ years. After taking early retirement from full-time work, I qualified as a dog trainer in January 2025 through the Will Atherton Training Academy. Following that, I joined the Yorkshire Canine Academy's Dog Trainer Development Mentorship programme under Jacob Morgan, where I have ongoing support from Jacob and a network of experienced dog trainers with a wealth of knowledge behind them. Now I'm dedicating the rest of my life to helping others train their dogs.

I know how overwhelming a new puppy can be. My first Staffie, Shain, was destructive and taught me the importance of structure. But the real turning point came when I was helping my ex-partner with his rescue Cane Corso, Dexter—a 64kg powerhouse he'd adopted at 8 months old. At 18 months, Dexter broke my shoulder during a walk. That injury forced me to question everything I thought I knew about force-free positive-only training.

That's when I discovered balanced training methods—tools and techniques that work with a dog's instincts, not against them. Now, with my current Staffie/Corso mix Daisy, I practice what I preach every single day. I help puppy owners build proper foundations from the start, so they never have to experience the pain, frustration, and injury I went through. Early intervention prevents years of pulling, jumping, and behavioural problems.

Why Crate Training Changed Everything

I know exactly what you're going through because I've been there. My first Staffie puppy, Shain, was ripping my flat to bits while I was at work. Furniture destroyed, cushions shredded—I was at my wit's end. Then one day he chewed through an electrical cable, and I realised this wasn't just annoying—it was dangerous.

That's when I discovered crate training. It wasn't about punishment—it was about giving Shain a safe space, a den where he felt secure instead of anxious. Within days, the destruction stopped. He had his sanctuary, and I had my sanity back.

That moment changed everything. I realised that most 'problem puppies' aren't bad dogs—they're anxious dogs who need structure, boundaries, and a safe space. That's why crate training is a cornerstone of my Foundation Programme. It saved my flat, my relationship with Shain, and ultimately launched my career helping other owners do the same. Today, I apply these same principles with my Staffie/Corso mix, Daisy—proof that the foundations I teach work across all powerful breeds.

What to Bring on Drop-Off Day

To help your puppy settle in quickly and feel safe in a new environment, please bring the following on the morning of Day 1:

  • 🍗
    Their Favourite Food

Bring enough for the full day. Food motivation is one of our most powerful training tools — knowing what your puppy goes wild for gives us a head start.

  • 🧸
    Their Favourite Toy

A familiar toy brings comfort and can be used as a reward during play-based training sessions.

  • 🛏️
    Their Bed

A familiar bed helps your puppy feel at home in their crate and settles them faster in a new space.

  • 🧣
    A Blanket with Your Scent

This is the big one. Your scent is the most reassuring thing your puppy knows. A blanket you've slept with or worn helps them feel connected to you even when you're not there.

Everything else — water, crate space, and a whole lot of patience and love — is provided by Susan and Daisy.

Client Success Stories

Real transformations from owners who were at their breaking point.

From Bite Risk to Family Safe

K
Kenneth & Nala
Mastiff Cross
9/10 Behaviour Improvement
The Problem:

"Very nervous around new things and people. Reactive to people on phones walking by. Reactive to other dogs and lashing out at dogs and people. Even had police called on me because of the behaviour of the dog. It was the last resort—I didn't want the dog taken off of me, me to get a criminal record, and the dog getting destroyed."

The Transformation:

"She's been muzzle trained thanks to Cannae Dugs Aloud. She's so good at walking on lead. The nervousness is almost gone—now just loud noises she is scared of. She's good with my other dog now, being playful and interacting with each other, lots of face licking to show acceptance back into the pack. Her behaviour has improved dramatically and she's much more confident in social situations."

What Stood Out:

"The food motivation was what stood out—not food or treat driven before, but now very much so. Follows commands, walks to heel, great on loose leash too."

"From what she was like until now it's night and day. Can't thank you enough for the transformation of Nala."

D
D Morrison & Mila
Cockapoo
10/10 Behaviour Stopped
The Problem:

"I felt quite despairing as Mila wasn't eating much food at all. I was spending loads of money on fresh chicken, steak, mince—anything I could think of to try and get Mila to eat. Nothing was working."

The Transformation:

"After my consultation with Susan, she showed me how to get Mila eating dry food. She now eats around 100g of kibble per day—as a result, I hardly need to buy or waste lots of food anymore."

What Stood Out:

"I was very surprised Mila would never eat dry food, but after Susan showed me a different approach, Mila started eating kibble while walking. Another benefit is she comes to heel so much easier now."

"The change has been remarkable. No more wasted food, no more stress."

Common Questions

"I don't want to use aversive tools—aren't they cruel?"

I understand this concern—I had it too. But here's the truth: a prong collar, used correctly, is far less harmful than your dog dislocating your shoulder or being seized by police. I teach you how to fit and use these tools properly, with minimal correction and maximum communication. The goal is always calm, clear leadership—not punishment. Would you rather your dog live a restricted, stressful life, or learn boundaries that keep them safe and free?

"I'm not sure you're experienced enough."

Fair question. I qualified as a dog trainer in January 2025 through the Will Atherton Training Academy, completing the Advanced Canine Training & Behaviour Course under Will Atherton himself — a leading canine behaviourist. Following that, I joined the Yorkshire Canine Academy's Dog Trainer Development Mentorship under Jacob Morgan, giving me ongoing support from Jacob and a network of experienced trainers with a wealth of knowledge behind them. I've also added further certifications through the Victoria Stilwell Academy and hold a Pet First Aid Level 2 (VTQ). I've been a pet parent to 8 different dogs over 25+ years and have worked with dogs with bite histories. But more importantly: if I cannae help you, I will find someone who can. Your dog's success is my priority.

"What happens in the initial consultation?"

The consultation is where we get to know each other and your dog. I'll assess whether I'm the right trainer for you. If I can help, we'll work together to create a tailored training programme that fits your needs. If I think you'd be better served by a different type of trainer, I'll be honest and recommend someone who's a better fit. I can even help you find that person. Your dog's success matters more than making a sale.

"Will my puppy be okay with Daisy?"

Daisy is my role model — a 2-year-old Staffordshire/Corso cross, made of tough stuff, and absolutely loves meeting new puppies. She's been in training since the day I brought her home at 8 weeks old, right at the start of my own Advanced Dog Training course. She already knows everything I'm going to teach your puppy. Having Daisy there isn't just a nice bonus — she's part of the programme. Your puppy will train, rest, and play with both of us in my home, learning from a calm, confident older dog who leads by example. It's one of the most natural and effective ways for a young dog to learn.
